MTRH holds induction for new Board Members

Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) on Thursday May 17, 2018, held an induction for new Board Chairman, Mr. Mark Bor and Moi University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac S. Kosgey, who is joining the Board as a substantive member.

mtrhMr. Bor was appointed Chairman by President Uhuru Kenyatta on March 28, 2018, for a period of three years.
MTRH CEO, Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa, welcomed them to the Hospital and by extension to the MTRH Board of Management.
Dr. Aruasa gave an update of the Hospital relating to its mandate, leadership, financing, staff establishment, among others.

The CEO also took the two Board Members through the Hospital's complete flagship projects which include Nursing Simulation Centre, the AMB 250 Ecostery Clinical Waste Management Plant House and installation of Microwave Clinical Waste Equipment.
Others are the purchase of modern Farewell Home Hearse, purchase and installation of 0.36 Tesla MRI machine and purchase and installation of 32 and 64 slice CT Scan machines.

Mr. Bor lauded the Hospital Management for the positive transformation of the institution and called on MTRH staff to dedicate their efforts towards quality service delivery.

He urged the Management to safeguard the reputation of the Hospital.
Prof. Kosgey expressed gratitude to the Hospital Management for a warm reception. He asked MTRH CEO to consider reviewing the MoU with Moi University to accommodate emerging trends especially in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Aruasa then led both Mr. Bor and Prof. Kosgey on a tour of the Hospital. They toured the Renal Unit at the Chandaria Cancer and Chronic Diseases Centre, Bunkers, Radiology Unit, Private Wing II-Outpatient, Emergency Department, ICU, Riley Mother and Baby Hospital, Shoe4Africa Children Hospital and AMPATH Centre.

Mr. Bor committed to fully support the Hospital Management to ensure MTRH delivers on its mandate.

RESUMPTION OF LECTURES: Monday 21st May, 2018 at 8.00 a.m.

Moi University wishes to inform all continuing students in the following Schools and Campuses that lectures will resume on Monday 21st May, 2018 at 8.00 a.m.

1. MAIN CAMPUS

Students in 1st year second semester, 2nd year first semester and 4th year second semester in the following Schools:

  • School of Education.
  • School of Arts & Social Sciences.                
  • School of Business & Economics (1st years only).                                                                                      
  • School of Information Sciences.
  • School of Biological & Physical Sciences.  
  • School of Engineering (1st,2nd,3rd,4th and 5th year students)

2. ELDORET WEST CAMPUS (KPA)

  • School of Business & Economics (All continuing Government Sponsored Students 2nd, 3rd and 4th year groups) and all PSSP students.

3. ELDORET – ANNEX CAMPUS

  • School of Law.
  • School of Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management.

4. COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

  • School of Medicine.
  • School of Dentistry.
  • School of Public Health.
  • School of Nursing.

5. SATELLITE CAMPUSES

All continuing 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students in the following Campuses:

  • Kitale Campus.
  • Odera Akang’o Campus.
  • Nairobi Campus
  • Coast Campus

NOTE:

  • The reporting date for 4th year first semester students will be communicated in due course.
  • All KUCCPS admitted first year students for the 2018/2019 academic year will report on Monday 27th August, 2018.
  • Inter-university transfers for first year Government Sponsored Students to Moi University are being processed in all academic programmes on a first-come first-serve basis. Please visit the KUCCPS website to fill in and download the inter-university transfer form.
  • Admission for Privately Sponsored Students for May and August 2018 is ongoing. Please visit the Moi University website or the nearest Moi University Campus.

Moi University, MUBS strengthen ties

Senior staff of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) on Thursday May 10, 2018 paid a visit to Moi University in a benchmarking exercise that seeks to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions.

The MUBS team, led by Prof. Waswa Balunywa, a renowned entrepreneurship scholar and academic administrator, were welcomed by Moi University Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academics, Research and Extension, Prof. Isaac N. Kimengi, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac. S. Kosgey.

Staff drawn from various departments of the two institutions held discussions on opportunities and challenges facing them. The two intuitions have enjoyed a five-year partnership in student and staff exchange programme that has leveraged their academic development.

Prof. Kimengi and Prof. Balunywa pledged commitment of the two institutions in advancing their collaboration beyond the business related programmes, so as to benefit a wide range of faculty and students.
