Moi University Signs Strategic MoU with Trans Nzoia County to Advance Research, Student Training and Community Development


On February 13, 2026, Moi University officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the County Government of Trans Nzoia. This agreement marks a significant step towards enhancing collaboration between higher education and local governance.


Prof. Kiplagat Kotut, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Moi University, expressed gratitude for the partnership and emphasized the importance of aligning academic research with community needs. This MoU aims to provide undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities for research, training and service focused on critical areas such as health, agriculture, education, governance and economic empowerment.
The collaboration will enhance experiential learning for students and support county staff through technical expertise and training initiatives. AMPATH, a key stakeholder, will contribute its extensive experience in community-based healthcare to deepen health research and improve clinical training.
This MoU symbolizes a commitment to actionable impact ensuring that research translates into tangible benefits for the people of Trans Nzoia County. Together, Moi University and the County Government are dedicated to fostering a healthier, more prosperous, and resilient community.
