The Moi University Africa Health Collaborative project in collaboration with the CUBE, held a meeting on 29th – 31st July 2026 to equip participants with practical knowledge, skills and tools to identify community health challenges, develop innovative and sustainable health enterprises as a pathway for employment and income generation. About 170 participants drawn from the community to include community health workers, unemployed youths, people with disability and women, engaged with facilitators to on key issues related to health entrepreneurship for sustainable employment. The meeting was attended by Dean School of Public Health, Prof Patrick Kere, who is also the PI, Dean, School of Business and Economics, Prof Ronald Bonuke, and the Director Quality Assurance & Performance Contracting, Prof. Michael Korir.
The objectives of the workshop were to enhance participants understanding of community health challenges and the opportunities available for entrepreneurship and innovation, equip participants with practical skills for sustainable health enterprises, strengthen participants capacity to develop innovative health solutions that improve community well-being while improving sustainability livelihoods, support participants, support participants to develop viable business models and action plans for implementation and expose participants to mentors, business support services, financing opportunities and relevant innovation ecosystems. The event ended with pitching sessions where participants shared ideas on addressing community health challenges.
