Call for DAAD Scholarship Application: PhD in Pure Mathematics 2022/2023 Academic Year

1. Scholarship call
Moi University, a public university located in Eldoret Kenya and offering world class training, is pleased to announce Five (5) PhD scholarships under Duetsche Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) funding. DAAD promotes international academic exchange as well as educational cooperation with developing countries through various funding and scholarship programmes. The scholarships are tenable for applicants from Kenya and Africa region to study on full time basis in 2022/2023 academic year which will commence from September 2022.

2. List of eligible programmes/study fields:
The scholarships are only tenable for PhD in Pure Mathematics.

 

3. Duration and commencement:
PhD Scholarships are available for up to a maximum of three years. The scholarship will be initially granted for one year and may be extended upon individual request and receipt of a complete application by using the DAAD Renewal Application form found in the DAAD portal.

 

4. Application Requirements:
(i) Master’s degree in Pure Mathematics. The Master’s degree must not have been earned more than Six (6) years ago.
(ii) The candidate must meet minimum requirement for admission into Pure Mathematics PhD programme as stipulated by Moi University.
(iii) All interested candidates must have a research proposal in the field of Pure Mathematics clearly outlining the relevance of the intended research to regional development.

5. Admission into Moi University PhD Pure Mathematics Programme
Proof of admission into Moi University PhD Pure Mathematics programme will be a requirement for the award of the this scholarship.
NOTE that in addition to applying for this scholarship, you are also required to apply for admission into Moi University PhD in Pure Mathematics Programme latest by 15th February 2022 for your admission to be processed. Application for admission can be done online through the Admissions Portal on https://admissions.mu.ac.ke and notify the Department of Mathematics, Physics & Computing, Moi University.

 

6. Application Procedure and Deadline:
All applications must be received by Wednesday 15th December 2021, 5.00 pm. Applicants are required to make two applications concurrently:

 

(i) All interested candidates can apply by filling in the Interest Expression Form that can be downloaded here. The duly filled application form together with relevant testimonials and documents can be returned directly to the Department of Mathematics, Physics & Computing, posted or emailed so as to reach the Moi University, Department of Mathematics, Physics & Computing not later than 15th December, 2021. (ii) Applicants are also required to submit their application for the scholarship through DAAD portal by logging into https://portal.daad.de/sap/bc/bsp/sap/z_set_cookie/setcookie.htm?fund_ar=stv&id=57607654 and making their applications directly to DAAD.
NOTE: Only the applications submitted through the two channels shall be processed.
